Unboxing: Butter Pat Cast Iron Skillet
We understand folks don’t want to invest in cast iron without knowing anything about the brand or quality of the product. Because of this, we’re always getting asked to review cast iron by folks. We recently unboxed the Heather skillet made by Butter Pat Industries. I’ll run through the pros and cons of this skillet with y’all.
We’d made a video with a full review which is listed below, if you’re interested. And if you have a Butter Pat, we’d love to know what you think – leave a comment in the video and let us know.
PROS
- One of the only two USA cast iron companies that still make their pans by hand.
- Best packaging we’ve seen.
- It has an incredibly smooth surface.
- It comes with an opposite handle for better balance when holding or moving the skillet.
- It’s made with a handy pour spout.
- It arrives nicely preseasoned.
- It comes with a 100-year guarantee.
CONS
- At $195 for the 10″ (8″ cooking surface) Heather cast iron skillet, it could be a hefty price tag for lots of folks.
- The main handle is a little shorter and wider than the conventional handles we’re used to.
And the ultimate test, because y’all know I like to break the rules – I put the skillet to the test with some good ol’ hog meat and scrambled eggs straight out of the box. It cooked up nicely with no sticking and cleaned up well. Their pre-seasoning is incredibly smooth and you can cook in it right out of the box.
