Cowboy Kent Rollins' Famous Sloppy Joes

Wild West Sloppy Joes

I always cook Sloppy Joes when I cook on a ranch. It’s a good meal that everyone knows and loves. Sloppy Joes always fill up the cowboys after a long day of work and it is the most requested sandwich we get on ranches. Our original Sloppy Joe video and recipe is still just as good, but over time we’ve found ways to make it even better. Give ’em both a try!

We appreciate you sharing our recipes with your friends and family!

Prepare for a Quick Cook

Sloppy Joes have become popular because they are an easy meal to cook, and you can make it as easy or as hard as you want to. I like to chop fresh onions and jalapenos in mine, but if you have a good salsa (or our Cowboy Chutney) that has chilies and onions in it, you can pour that right in with the sauce.

Tip: Have the jalapeno and onion pre-chopped when you start cooking.

Get your skillet hot and brown the ground chuck. Ground chuck 80/20 is always going to be the ground beef with the most flavor and best quality for sloppy joes. When the meat is about half done, season well with Original Seasoning (or your favorite seasoning salt & pepper). Add the vegetables and cook until the meat is browned and the vegetables are softened.

Tip: Remove extra grease with a spoon to keep the sandwiches from being soggy.

Add the Sweet & Spicy mustard and BBQ sauce – you can use ours but if you don’t have them on hand, use your favorite mustard and bbq sauce, they’ll be delicious. Add a cup of light brown sugar and mix until it’s all smooth and bubbly.

Get your sesame seed bun and put some cheese on the bottom. This will keep the sandwiches from getting soggy. Add as much cheese as you want on the top, and serve with your favorite potato chips.

Tip: Once the meat is done you can keep it warm in a slow cooker to keep it warm until everyone’s had some.

As always, Shannon and I thank you for visiting our website and subscribing to our videos. Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram! God bless you and we’ll see you down the Wild West Sloppy Joe trail!
