I broke down and got all 3 cookbooks for basically 2 reasons. 1) Recipes. 2) To pass along to one of my grandsons, the Master Spam Chief! My mother wrote a very practical cookbook. I’ve never liked it. What I like about your cookbooks are the good cast iron recipes and the practical cowboy wisdom. My wife, Jeanne, has dementia, and forgets a lot and misses out on many of the simpler joys of life. But, she enjoys listen & watching you all doing recipes. And, we both enjoys your new The Cast Iron Cowboy! The apron is for him. Thanks so much for sharing: your stories, your wisdom, and Shannon! And before I forget, and I’m sure you already know this, Shannon is the great treasure & joy of your life and SHE ALWAYS COMES FIRST! Or, (since I’m a bit older than you), and as you might say, “I’ll beat the cackle berries right out of you no matter how long it takes, if you ever mess this up!” FYI: Both my parents are buried in Arlington. Both served. My dad, a 1st Sgt most of my life, once said he served because he didn’t want to see his sons have to serve. One of my best memories is having him salute me & the honor of returning that salute. And, once again, sons, daughters, fathers & mothers, and serving us both. Thanks for not being afraid to honor them and for your prayers.
