Hey Y’all! Love the newest cookbook. I have had it a few days and just now getting to go through it. I love the stories throughout your books and use several recipes from the other two we have previously gotten. The books quality and the stories are phenomenal. An excellent read and recipes are very well done and easy to follow. We have my wife and mother in law with us, I have been watching your videos for quite some years and my wife and I were watching and she asked if y’all had a cookbook. I really like the new cookbook, Comfort Food The Cowboy Way. Kent and Shannon hit it out of the park with this one.
Though I don’t do outdoor dutch oven cooking, there are lots of recipes in this cookbook that I can experiment with in my kitchen.
I especially like the Lemon Butter Salmon recipe and the Chicken Soup and Egg Noodle recipe.
There are lots of recipes in this cookbook that I plan to try: Beef Stroganoff, BLT with avocado, French Toast Casserole, and others.
Shannon’s photos are Super! The food photos look great. And, I love the pictures of the horses, the cowboys, the campsites, the chuck wagon, and the cook sites.
An added bonus is info about the chuck wagon, chuck wagon provisions, cowboy codes and chuck wagon etiquette, a camp cook’s guide to weather lore and other interesting information.
Kent’s stories, observations, and reflections are worth the price of the book alone. I especially like the story on p. 143, Just Keep Going.
One more thing that I like about this book is the design and layout of the book. The paper quality is good and easy to look at. The arrangement of the sections makes it easy to find what you want. The occasional use of bandana and denim borders is attractive and easy on the eyes.
This book is a winner!

As always Kent and Shannon’s works are fantastic. This is the third cook book I’ve got. I haven’t tried anything out of this book yet, but have used many of the recipes from the other two books and they came out great people enjoyed them, but I don’t reckon they were as good as if Kent cooked them. I’m an up in age cowboy and as long as I’m alive whenever Kent and Shannon put out a book I’ll buy it. Wish they were still in Western Horsemen. Keep up the great work.
