Sourdough Bread Recipe with Quick Sourdough Starter
Hey folks, it's another wonderful day and today we're sharing how to make a loaf of bread. Not just any bread but a Sourdough Bread! And not just any Sourdough Bread, we are doing a jalapeno, cheddar, and onion stuffed bread!more
One of the most unique things about our sourdough is that we use Quick Sourdough Starter, you can find the recipe here. It's low maintenance and sets up quickly so you don't have to wait months for your sourdough to form.
It also has a great homemade taste. We also use two (2) different kind of cheeses. Yes, 2 different types! - Pepper Jack and Sharp Cheddar. You can also add whatever you would like to throw into it, but do it before you put the flour into it because you can't incorporate it well if you don't. In adding the flour, always go from least up. Add a little, fold it in, and then add more till it stops being sticky.
We're also sharing a trick with this recipe for creating a loaf if you're cooking in a Dutch oven. If you have a 12 or 14-inch Dutch Oven, you can place tinfoil down the sides of the loaf (watch how we do it in the video below). You can also use the conventional oven in your kitchen. Also, check out our post on how you can target heat and place coal right where you need it when using a Dutch Oven.
Once the bread has firmed up, take out the foil used to pack the loaf so all the edges can be brown. You can use your hand to gently get the bread back into shape if it looks wonky. You can always tell if it's ready by the way it feels. It also tastes really amazing with so much flavor and just the right amount of moisture captured in it.
To make this process faster, we recommend forming the dough into two loaves and cook in separate loaf pans or separate Dutch ovens. I hope you do enjoy this wonderful recipe!
