Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks - Cowboy Kent Rollins

Ingredients

  • 16 ounce block Mozzarella cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon iItalian seasoning
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • cup cornstarch
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Cut the cheese into about ½ to ¾-inch thick strips. Place in the freezer for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and water.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the bread crumbs, garlic powder, black pepper and mix well.
  • In a third bowl combine the flour and cornstarch.
  • Coat the cheese sticks well with the flour mixture followed by the egg wash then coat generously with the breadcrumb mixture. Place on a wire rack for 5 minutes.
  • Add about 3 inches of oil to a Dutch oven or deep fryer and heat to 375 degrees F
  • Fry the cheese sticks, a few at a time, for about 45 seconds or until a deep golden brown. Place on a wire rack and serve warm.
