Cut the cheese into about ½ to ¾-inch thick strips. Place in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and water.
In a separate bowl, combine the bread crumbs, garlic powder, black pepper and mix well.
In a third bowl combine the flour and cornstarch.
Coat the cheese sticks well with the flour mixture followed by the egg wash then coat generously with the breadcrumb mixture. Place on a wire rack for 5 minutes.
Add about 3 inches of oil to a Dutch oven or deep fryer and heat to 375 degrees F
Fry the cheese sticks, a few at a time, for about 45 seconds or until a deep golden brown. Place on a wire rack and serve warm.
