iron you know I get a lot of questions i
0:08
really don't know how to clean my cast
0:09
iron after I'm cooking with it well
0:11
folks it is so easy the biggest tip I
0:13
have for you is to clean it when you get
0:15
through cooking with it we just got
0:16
through cooking us some sausage in here
0:18
just take that and you can see see that
0:20
we're using the slanted end of it and
0:23
rake any of them loose particles out and
0:26
then you can take a paper towel and just
0:28
wipe that out you know I really prefer
0:30
using this wood spatula it's not going
0:33
to melt it's not going to hurt your
0:34
seasoning you use plastic you scrape it
0:36
through here it's going to melt on there
0:38
you use metal to clean it you're also
0:40
scraping off your seasoning now I've got
0:42
some hot water this just come off this
0:44
is going to steam don't put your face
0:46
over it but it's going to clean it right
0:48
there you don't want to use cold water
0:51
because you'll shock that cast iron wipe
0:53
that out using the steam method when
0:56
that hot water hits hot cast iron it's
0:58
going to break loose anything that might
1:00
be left in there you can wipe it out
1:02
with a paper towel or give it a scrub
1:03
with a sponge then back on the fire you
1:06
can see if Shan will get in here there's
1:08
a few little things left right here so
1:11
we're going to take a little salt put it
1:14
in here paper towel just give it a scrub
1:18
sure salt is an abrasive cleaner but
1:21
it's not going to take your seasoning
1:23
off it's just loosening anything else up
1:26
that we might not have got the first
1:28
round now remember when you get it
1:30
cleaned out you get it back on the heat
1:31
we're reseasoning every time we use it
1:34
with a food grade oil i love to use
1:35
grape seed oil cuz it bonds well to cast
1:38
iron but this is really easy and quick
1:40
to do
