Kent grew up in the cattle business and manages a cow/calf operation in Southwest Oklahoma near the banks of the Red River. For more than a decade, Kent has described life growing up on the range through poetry and storytelling.
Kent has received prestigious recognition for his storytelling talents including: the Skinny Roland Humor Award for Best Humorist and Storyteller in 2002 and was nominated three times for Best Storyteller, both by the Academy of Western Artists.
Kent’s poetry and stories range from serious to hilarious. They are the tales of comical calamities, sagebrush sagas and true cowboys
“Cowboy poetry was a way for me to tie cooking and entertaining together. I share the old stories and let people know what went on in the 1880s. I want people to see life wasn’t really like what they’ve seen on the silver screen.”
